StimAire Leadership Team

Tarek Makansi PhD EE is the Founder, President, Board Member, and CTO of StimAire, and he is the inventor of the fundamental technology that enables inject-ability of a neurostimulator that is activated by a magnetic field. Tarek also founded Tempronics, which was sold to a Fortune 500 company. Prior to that, Tarek had a 20 year career at IBM, including Director of Worldwide Product Strategy for the multibillion dollar data storage unit.

Dan Root MD is the Chief Strategy Officer for StimAire, and he co-developed the user interface and the titration procedure for the StimAire neuromodulator for treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Dan was the founder of Oregon Sleep Associates, a sleep medicine facility and sleep laboratory in Portland, Oregon. Dan has treated thousands of OSA patients and has discussed better solution directions with many of them. Dan also founded a company hosting an online store for sleep apnea patients which was sold in 2017.

Abhay Sanan MD/Neurosurgeon is the Chief Medical Officer and Board Member of StimAire. Abhay practiced for 24 years at the Center for Neurosciences, the largest group in Southern Arizona focused on neurological disorders. Abhay is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, and serves as Assistant Professor of both Neurosurgery and Radiation Oncology at the University of Arizona. Abhay is also founder of nonprofit eachbrainmatters.com.

Robert Dean PhD, MD/ENT is the Chief Clinical Officer of StimAire, and he developed the injection procedure for our neurostimulator device for treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Robert is CEO of Urgent Specialists, has been President of Tucson ENT with a staff of nine physicians, and continues to be an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.

Tony Arnold is Board Member and an Independent Director for StimAire. Tony has a seasoned career as CEO of venture-backed neuromodulation companies, including SetPoint Medical in Valencia, California. Earlier, Tony was an executive with Boston Scientific.

Fletcher McCusker is a Board Member for StimAire and is Managing Director of UA Venture Capital. Fletcher started Providence Service Corporation in 1997 with a $50,000 investment, grew the company to $55,000,000 in revenue and went public in 2003. Providence then grew to a billion dollar business, and is, by far, the most successful public company ever launched in Tucson.

Michael Deitch is a Board Member for StimAire and is Managing Director of UA Venture Capital. Michael was the founding CFO at both SinfoníaRx, Inc. (now a subsidiary of Nasdaq: TRHC) and The Providence Service Corporation (Nasdaq: PRSC). He has deep experience in mergers and acquisitions and negotiating terms and conditions of financing arrangements including private equity capital, mezzanine capital, and commercial lending.
